"My friend’s father was diagnosed with leukemia and when I found out that he had the chance of receiving a marrow transplant, I registered as a marrow donor. Prior to this, I didn’t know anything about marrow donation and I was surprised to learn about how easy it is to register and become a donor.

When DKMS called a few months later to tell me that I was a match for someone, there was never a question of whether or not I wanted to be a donor, but I was very nervous about the process and I had a lot of questions. The staff at DKMS was extremely supportive and they were always available to answer my questions. I went into this process knowing that I would jump at the opportunity to be a donor, but what I didn’t realize was the impact this experience would have on my life. Being a donor was an amazing experience! “
