I am Alive Today because of a Stranger

In May 2007, I received a marrow transplant

My name is Todd. Two years ago, I was having the time of my life. I was a student at Missouri State University, I was active in sports and had a tight knit group of friends. All this came to a screeching end when I received the devastating news that I had leukemia.

I had to drop out of college, leave my friends and go back home to start chemotherapy. After a relapse in December 2006, my doctor told me that I would need a marrow transplant in order to live. My family immediately began seeking help and they found DKMS. Together, they recruited over 3,000 donors and in May 2007, I received a marrow transplant. Since then, I have returned to school and have become an advocate for DKMS. Together we are fighting to save more lives.
