Financial contributions help save lives.
Registering one potential bone marrow donor costs DKMS $65. Most of the expense is for the laboratory typing fees. Because DKMS does not require new donors to pay the registration fee, and does not receive government funding, DKMS must rely on donations from the general public to fund donor registrations. 100% of your financial contribution is used to register new potential donors. Every dollar counts!

Because DKMS does not require new donors to cover the $65 lab fee for their own registration, fundraising is an essential part of what we must do in order to keep our donor database growing. Knowing that 100% of the funds you collect will go directly towards signing up new donors who can save lives makes fundraising for DKMS a truly rewarding experience! There are many ways you can fundraise.
- Plan a Fundraising Event: If you want to put together a fundraising event to support DKMS, the only limit is your imagination!
- Set Up a Fundraising Page: You can set up an online fundraising page that allows you to fundraise for DKMS. Visit www.firstgiving.com/dkms to set up a page and then promote your page in order to get donations.
- Participate in our Cell Phone Recycling Program: You've got the power to help save lives. Collect used cell phones, BlackBerries, and iPods from your friends, colleagues, classmates and from anyone else you know. Download our pre-paid mailing label with shipping instructions. Drop your package in the mail and help us save lives.

CORPORATE SUPPORT
With a matching gift program, your employer might match your donation dollar for dollar or even triple your contribution. Before you donate as an individual, please contact your Human Resources department to find out if your company offers a matching gift program. It may just double your gift to us.
Donations Instead of Presents: There are many occasions when you can collect donations for DKMS: Your birthday, wedding, and other festivities are wonderful opportunities to ask your friends and family to make donations to DKMS instead of giving presents. With the "Donations instead of Presents” option, you can give a special gift to yourself and to many leukemia patients around the world: Hope for a new life. If you want to help DKMS in this special way, we will be happy to provide you with informational materials and electronic invitations for your guests.
Donate in Someone’s Honor: It always hurts to lose a loved one. Ease your sorrow by doing something positive in memory of your loved one. Help give other patients a second chance at life by asking family and friends to make donations to DKMS instead of sending flowers or other gifts.
Note: All donations go to our overall lifesaving cause. We cannot accept donations for use by a specific patient. When you donate through our secure online donation form or when you send a check by mail, you may designate the person that motivated you to contribute to the cause.
DKMS GALA
When DKMS began, our only goal was to recruit potential bone marrow donors to save patients in need of bone marrow transplants.
Of course, our efforts cannot be fueled by good intentions alone. Fundraising is critical to the success of DKMS and is the main objective of our annual fundraising Gala: Linked Against Leukemia. But the Gala is more than a fundraising event. The Gala provides the opportunity for DKMS to create awareness for its cause and to showcase the importance of bone marrow donation. In a special onstage event, called “Moment of the Match,” a leukemia survivor is introduced, for the first time, to the donor who saved his life. This is an indescribably emotional moment that emphasizes why our life-saving work is so important.
Working closely with our key corporate sponsor, Coty, Inc., DKMS organizes a lavish, star-studded event with an impressive line-up of guests, and entertainment. The money, jointly raised at the Gala by Coty Inc. and DKMS, will help register bone marrow donors and save lives worldwide. The celebrities who attend the event attract media attention to our cause and help us spread the word. Hopefully, each person who attends the Gala will be moved to become a donor and an advocate for DKMS as well.
The success of our annual Gala is critical to the success of our cause.
