On August 29, 2006, Joseph Grimsley, a 35-year-old father of three was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia. Doctors told Joseph that without a bone marrow transplant he would not live another year. Family and friends began a " fight for life" campaign in an effort to find a donor match for Joseph.

35 year old Angie is a lifelong Cloquet resident and mother of 4 year old Katerina and needs your help! Angie was diagnosed with AML(acute myeloid leukemia) in December. The only chance for Angie to survive is to find her life saving bone marrow donor as soon as possible! You may be the match Angie needs.

As part of becoming a bar mitzvah, it is traditional to have a mitzvah project. I have chosen to organize a bone marrow donor drive to help find matches for cancer patients who need bone marrow transplants to save their lives. This is very dear to me because my Dad helped save someone’s life as a stem cell donor almost two years ago and my Grandpa saved his sister’s life by being a bone marrow donor in 1986. - Justin Wexler

College students are excellent donors, and now students at Kean University have the chance to show that they Give a Spit about Cancer. In just ten minutes, students can get educated and do the cheek swab it takes to join the national registry of heroes.

Someone in America is diagnosed with a form of blood cancer every 4 minutes, so it is safe to say that this is a nightmare shared by everyone, regardless of geography, ethnicity, or faith. In the First Baptist Church of Plant City, Florida the congregation has had to grapple with the reality of multiple members receiving this life-altering diagnosis in just the last few months alone. But the truth is, whether or not you are a member of the First Baptist Church, it is rare to find someone who hasn’t felt the affects of cancer in their lives, whether intimately or through association.

Lauren Matta, of Little Egg Harbor, is a vibrant 17 year old senior at Pinelands Regional High School who has been battling Leukemia since June of 2011. She loved to sing and hang out with friends, but her last 6 months have been filled with rounds of grueling chemotherapy. Her condition became more critical in December when she relapsed, just one month after completion of her treatment. Now Lauren’s best chance of survival is to receive a bone marrow transplant, but she’ll first need to find a matching donor.

Instead, he sat in a hospital bed as he and his parents were told that the seasonal flu they thought he’d been battling was actually something they couldn’t even have imagined; Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia.
