Someone in America is diagnosed with a form of blood cancer every 4 minutes, so it is safe to say that this is a nightmare shared by everyone, regardless of geography, ethnicity, or faith. In the First Baptist Church of Plant City, Florida the congregation has had to grapple with the reality of multiple members receiving this life-altering diagnosis in just the last few months alone. But the truth is, whether or not you are a member of the First Baptist Church, it is rare to find someone who hasn’t felt the affects of cancer in their lives, whether intimately or through association.

On August 29, 2006, Joseph Grimsley, a 35-year-old father of three was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia. Doctors told Joseph that without a bone marrow transplant he would not live another year. Family and friends began a " fight for life" campaign in an effort to find a donor match for Joseph.

Lauren Matta, of Little Egg Harbor, is a vibrant 17 year old senior at Pinelands Regional High School who has been battling Leukemia since June of 2011. She loved to sing and hang out with friends, but her last 6 months have been filled with rounds of grueling chemotherapy. Her condition became more critical in December when she relapsed, just one month after completion of her treatment. Now Lauren’s best chance of survival is to receive a bone marrow transplant, but she’ll first need to find a matching donor.

Thousands of blood cancer patients need a bone marrow transplant to save their life, but most don't find the matching donor they need to survive. It could be YOU.

Instead, he sat in a hospital bed as he and his parents were told that the seasonal flu they thought he’d been battling was actually something they couldn’t even have imagined; Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia.

Imagine hearing the words "It's back" from your 8 year olds doctor. Now imagine that the "It" the oncologist is talking about is your 8 year olds cancer. That's what happened to Simon and his family.

The Murry brothers, Sean, 21 and Patrick, 17, were both diagnosed with Diamond Blackfan anemia at birth. Since birth they have required monthly blood transfusions, inserting a needle in their leg each evening for a pump to provide medicine over a 12 hr. period and now having to receive blood using a dialysis machine so their entire blood volume is taken out while an entire new blood volume is infused.
