DKMS is a member of the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP). When a donor is initially entered into the donor center, the blood is tested for four of six HLA tissue characteristics. DR typing decodes the last two. Normally, DR typing is only carried out in connection with a patient inquiry, but to reduce search time, we do DR typing independent of requests. More and more donors are being HR typed. Our typing is becoming much more precise.

High-resolution DNA typing before final confirmatory typing of the donor is extremely important to clarify whether a match is possible.

Because advances in medicine are fast-paced, we are committed to staying at the forefront. We work to ensure the quality of our data so that it represents the latest developments and retype when appropriate. In addition, our DKMS High-Risk Program has expanded search options for doctors of high-risk patients.

When we need to save a life, we support you in doing it in the most effective manner possible.

We don’t search for donors; we help you find them.

Timely and Efficient

"Fred Hutchinson/Seattle Cancer Care Alliance has enjoyed a longstanding and productive working relationship with DKMS. In the setting of an ever expanding focus by the US registry, it has proven beneficial in countless situations to work with DKMS for timely and efficient response not only to HR and CT requests but to donor workups as well."
