The DKMS Prospective Typing Program is designed to make stem cell donors more readily available. To remain cost effective, DKMS does not AB-DRB1 type every recruited donor. Instead, DKMS selects donors for further typing according to certain criteria, including age, gender and HLA frequency.
The project originally included intermediate DRB1* typings, but was extended to high-resolution and ’C’ typings to meet U.S. transplant center demand.
DKMS works with Histogenetics lab to tissue-type donors DNA. Visit Histogenetics at www.histogenetics.com
