DKMS provides patients and their families’ access to the largest marrow donor database in the world. To date, DKMS has helped facilitate more than 14,000 donor and patient matches.
• DKMS is the world’s largest donor center with over 1.7 million registered donors, providing 20% of all transplants in the U.S.
• DKMS Americas is a national donor center able to hold marrow donor drives in every state across America, making it possible for the patients family to be involved, regardless of location
• DKMS performs HLA- A*, B*, C*, DR* high-resolution typing on every registered donor minimizing the search time for finding the best possible donor match for a patient
• DKMS recruits donors of all races and ethnicities and adds them to the National Registry, so all patients can benefit
• DKMS is a very flexible organization and works to accommodate the schedules and needs of our donors, patients and their families
• DKMS appoints one person to be your contact for donor drives
• DKMS does not make it mandatory for the donor to cover the $65 registration cost, but we gladly accept and appreciate any voluntary contribution that is made
"Not a lot of people know that leukemia is the most common disease children die of in the U.S. Most children and young adults can be given a second chance if a match is found. However, only 2 out of 10 patients end up getting the life-saving treatment. I think it's amazing that Pat, who is organizing donor drives with DKMS is being an advocate for bone marrow registration at such a young age, he is such an inspiration. " - Leona Lewis
