Since 1992, DKMS has been a part of National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP), the largest worldwide bone marrow donor registry. Together, we connect doctors, donors and patients throughout North America and the world.
Through this network, the NMDP facilitates an average of 300 marrow or blood cell transplants each month and has helped give more than 30,000 patients a second chance at life.
We are proud of our close relationship working with the NMDP to facilitate this life saving process. DKMS makes up 13% of worldwide registered unrelated stem cell donors and 24% of NMDP registered donors. Out of the almost 1.7 million DKMS donors, more than 620K are AB-DR typed and over 209K are high resolution typed. A full 16% of the NMDP DR-typed donors are from DKMS.
Your transplant center will work with you throughout the search process of the NMDP registry for an unrelated donor, try to match you with the best donor possible and offer additional support throughout the transplant process.
