International Network

DKMS is part of a worldwide life-saving network of organizations, including:

Deutsche Knochenmarkspenderdatei (DKMS): In English, DKMS translates to German Bone Marrow Donor Center. With more than 1.7 Million registered donors, DKMS is the largest donor center in the world. DKMS donors make up 13% of worldwide registered donors, more than 24% of NMDP registered donors and over 50% of ZKRD registered donors.

German National Bone Marrow Donor Registry (ZKRD): The ZKRD has approximately 2.5 million donors, making it the second largest registry in the world. More than 1.4 Million donors on this registry come from DKMS. On an annual basis, ZKRD processes approximately 1,700 search requests for German patients and approximately 13,000 search requests for patients from all around the world.

National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP): With almost 7 million donors in its registry, the NMDP is the largest, worldwide list of donors where patients are connected with donor matches. At any given time, there are about 3,000 patients searching the NMDP for a match. All DKMS donors are listed on the NMDP registry.

World Marrow Donor Association (WMDA): The WMDA was founded in 1994 to help bring together donors and patients, regardless of location. WMDA sets stem cell collection and transportation guidelines. Many donor registries, including DKMS, are members of WMDA.
