DKMS is part of a worldwide life-saving network of organizations, including:
Be The Match Registry® (operated by the NMDP): has over 8 million donors in its registry, and is the most racially and ethnically diverse registry of its kind. All DKMS donors (over 2 million) are listed on the Be The Match Registry. DKMS and the Be The Match Registry share the same mission of saving lives.
DKMS Deutsche Knochenmarkspenderdatei gGmbH: In English, it translates to German Bone Marrow Donor Center. With over 2 million registered donors, DKMS is the largest bone marrow donor center in the world. DKMS donors make up 15% of worldwide registered donors, more than 25% of NMDP registered donors and over 50% of ZKRD registered donors.
World Marrow Donor Association (WMDA): The WMDA was founded in 1994 to help bring together donors and patients, regardless of location. WMDA sets stem cell collection and transportation guidelines. Many donor registries, including DKMS, are members of WMDA.
German National Bone Marrow Donor Registry (ZKRD): The ZKRD has nearly 4 million donors, making it the second largest registry in the world. More than 2 million donors on this registry come from DKMS. On an annual basis, ZKRD processes over 50,000 search requests for patients from all around the world.
